Privacy Policy

Springhouse Technologies, Inc.
Effective date: October 14, 2026

Introduction

Springhouse Technologies, Inc. ("Springhouse", "we", "us") makes the Springhouse app, a kitchen assistant that helps you track what's in your kitchen, plan meals, cook, and shop. This policy explains what information we collect through the Springhouse app, our text messaging service, and springhouse.co (together, the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We wrote this to be read. If anything is unclear, email hello@springhouse.co.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
  • Kitchen and cooking information: the items in your kitchen, recipes and cookbooks you save, meal plans, grocery lists, cooking progress, and kitchen equipment.
  • Preferences: dietary preferences, foods you avoid, and allergies you tell us about, so recipes and suggestions fit you.
  • Household information: if you create or join a household, the members you invite and the kitchen, lists, and plans you share with them.
  • Photos: pictures you take or upload, such as photos of food, groceries, or receipts.
  • Receipts: receipts you forward to our receipts email address, so purchased items can be added to your kitchen.
  • Messages and voice: what you type or say to the Springhouse assistant in the app or by text message, including voice recordings you choose to make.
  • Support and feedback: messages you send us, survey answers, and feedback.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage information: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, the screens you use, and crash and performance data.
  • Approximate location: your general area, inferred from your IP address. We do not collect your precise location.
  • Cookies on our website: see "Cookies and advertising on our website" below.

Information from services you connect

  • Google Calendar (optional): if you connect Google Calendar, see "Google user data" below.
  • Sign in with Google: your name and email address.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Run the Service: keep your kitchen, recipes, plans, and lists up to date across your devices and household.
  • Personalize suggestions, such as recipes that use what you have and fit your preferences.
  • Power the Springhouse assistant, including answering your questions, reading photos and receipts, and transcribing voice.
  • Send messages you asked for, including text messages from the assistant and account notifications.
  • Provide support, keep the Service secure, and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Understand how the Service is used so we can fix problems and improve it.
  • Comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use information from the app to show you ads.

AI processing

Springhouse's suggestions and answers are grounded in our own food database: ingredients, products, substitutions, nutrition, and shelf life. The Springhouse assistant uses artificial intelligence services from third-party providers to understand your messages, photos, receipts, and voice, match them to that database, and write responses. To do this, we send the relevant content to those providers when you use the feature. We use these providers under terms that do not allow them to use your content to train their models. Some of these providers keep the content we send them for a limited time, for example to detect abuse, before deleting it. This includes voice recordings sent to our transcription provider.

AI responses can be wrong. Always check ingredient labels and use your own judgment about allergies and food safety.

Google user data

If you choose to connect your Google account, this section describes how we handle the data we receive from Google.

What we access. With your permission, we request read-only access to your Google Calendar (calendar.readonly). We cannot create, change, or delete anything in your calendar.

How we use it. We use your calendar only to plan around your schedule: for example, to notice a busy evening and suggest a quicker dinner, or to answer the assistant when you ask what fits your week. To do this we read your calendar list and the times and locations of your events. We store only what we need for these features: event start and end times and whether an event blocks your time. We do not store event titles, descriptions, or attendee names.

Who sees it. People at Springhouse do not read your Google data, except when you ask us to for support, when needed for security, or when required by law. When you ask the assistant about your schedule, the relevant event times and locations are sent to our AI provider to answer you, under the AI processing terms above.

What we never do. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, transfer it to data brokers, or use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

Limited Use. Springhouse's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Disconnecting and deletion. You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time in the app, or remove Springhouse's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. When you disconnect, we revoke our access and delete the calendar data we stored. You can also ask us to delete it at any time by emailing hello@springhouse.co.

Text messages

If you give us your phone number, we use it to sign you in with a one-time code and, if you choose, to let you text the Springhouse assistant. Message frequency varies with how you use it. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop messages and HELP for help.

We do not share your mobile number or text messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.

How we share information

We share information only as described here:

  • With your household. Kitchen items, lists, plans, and recipes you add to a shared household are visible to its members.
  • With service providers who help us run the Service, under contracts that limit how they can use it:
    • Hosting, database, and storage (Amazon Web Services, Supabase)
    • AI services (Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs)
    • Photo and image analysis (Google Gemini, through the Vercel AI Gateway)
    • Text messaging and phone sign-in (Telnyx, Twilio)
    • Product analytics and error monitoring (PostHog, Sentry)
    • Logging and performance tracing (Logfire)
    • Push notifications (Apple, Google)
    • Affiliate link tracking for retailer purchases (Impact)
  • With retailers, when you ask. If you choose to shop your grocery list at a retailer such as Walmart, we send the items on your list to that retailer to build your cart. The retailer's own privacy policy applies to your shopping there.
  • For legal reasons. To comply with the law, respond to valid legal requests, or protect the rights, safety, and property of our users, Springhouse, or others.
  • In a business transfer. If Springhouse is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that deal, subject to this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share information from the app for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies and advertising on our website

Our marketing website, springhouse.co, uses cookies and similar technologies for site analytics and to measure our advertising, which may include advertising partners' pixels. You can control cookies through your browser settings. These website tools are not used in the Springhouse app, and they never receive Google user data or information from your kitchen, recipes, messages, or photos.

How long we keep information

  • Your account and its content: while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except as described below.
  • Google user data: deleted when you disconnect Google Calendar or delete your account.
  • Content sent to AI providers: kept by those providers for a limited time under their terms, then deleted. We do not control their retention periods.
  • Backups and security logs: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Records we must keep by law: as long as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Access and update your information in the app.
  • Disconnect Google Calendar at any time.
  • Stop text messages by replying STOP.
  • Delete your account and request a copy of or deletion of your information by emailing hello@springhouse.co from the email address on your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including the right to know what we collect, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of sales or sharing for targeted advertising. We do not sell or share app information for targeted advertising. To use any of these rights, email hello@springhouse.co. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires. You can use an authorized agent with proof of authorization. We will not discriminate against you for using your rights.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email hello@springhouse.co and we will delete it.

Where we process information

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and let you know in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
